The FORWARD! Campaign focuses on four important goals for the long-term benefit of this treasured institution:

Experience Oregon, a new and inclusive exhibit to serve tens of thousands of Oregon's children, families, and visitors of all ages (completed in 2019);

A renovated library to better serve visitors, staff, and our collections;

A Digital Vault to preserve our fragile history (like film and negatives) and to provide worldwide access to our priceless collections; and,

Endowments to secure these achievements into the future.

About Us

For more than a century, the Oregon Historical Society has served as the state’s collective memory, preserving a vast collection of objects, photographs, maps, manuscript materials, books, films, and oral histories. Our research library, museum, digital platforms, educational programming, and historical journal make Oregon’s history open and accessible to all. We exist because history is powerful, and because a history as deep and rich as Oregon’s cannot be contained within a single story or point of view.
